On Dec. 3, Ward Melville High School students in Mr. Neuberger's Human Rights and Genocide class, along with some from Global History and Geography II and AP World History classes, attended a presentation by Hallie Schreiner of the Museum of Jewish Heritage. She guided them through the chronology of the Holocaust, highlighting key themes of resistance, liberation and its aftermath. Her presentation offered critical historical context and set the stage for a meaningful exploration of these topics for when the students visited the Museum of Jewish Heritage on Thursday, Dec. 5.

During the visit to the museum, students had the opportunity to engage deeply with the museum’s powerful exhibits, which include artifacts, photographs and personal testimonies that vividly document the experiences of Holocaust victims and survivors. Guided tours and interactive displays allowed students to connect historical events to broader themes of human rights and justice. This immersive experience complemented their classroom studies, encouraging reflection on the enduring impact of genocide and the importance of remembering and learning from history to prevent future atrocities.
