The Three Village Academy provides students with a nontraditional, alternative education environment, which maximizes personal strengths while focusing on individual learning styles. The Academy is committed to the academic, emotional, and social growth of each student, utilizing a team approach in a small group environment. Social Studies Department Helps Students Register to Vote

The social studies department at Ward Melville High School and The Academy recently took an active role in encouraging civic engagement by assisting juniors and seniors with voter registration. Through their government and economics classes, students completed registration forms over the past few weeks, ensuring they are prepared to participate in future elections.

In New York, young people can preregister to vote as early as 16, allowing them to take a crucial step toward becoming engaged citizens. Recognizing the importance of this opportunity, the social studies department worked diligently to ensure students understood the process and their role in democracy.

For those not currently enrolled in government or economics courses, the Social Studies Honor Society, Rho Kappa, provided additional support. On March 11 and 12, Rho Kappa students hosted a voter registration table in the commons at Ward Melville during lunch periods, offering registration forms and answering any questions students had about the process.

Through these efforts, the social studies department continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering informed and active citizens. By providing students with the tools they need to engage in the democratic process, the department helps ensure that young voters are prepared to make their voices heard in future elections.
