Patriot pride was on display April 26 during Ward Melville High School’s Battle of the Classes. The event was run by the Ward Melville Student Government and consisted of a series of fun games that bolstered school spirit and competition between grades. Students participated in games including musical chairs, a baton relay race, an obstacle course and tug-of-war. The excitement was evident among all three grade levels as they cheered for their teams throughout the afternoon.
This buzz about Battle of the Classes was carried over from previous days, during which the Student Government put on a festive spring spirit week. Days included ‘dress like your favorite teacher day,’ holiday day, twisted Tuesday and color wars. Additionally,
small competitions were held in school each day of the week to build enthusiasm about Battle of the Classes. Students got to participate in fun competitions such as teacher trivia, finish the lyric, a digital scavenger hunt and a jellybean guessing game.
Overall, Ward Melville displayed a heightened sense of school pride between the festive spirit days and mini competitions. Battle of the Classes was the final day in this series of events, and in the end, the seniors won!
