At a recent Three Village Board of Education meeting, five students were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling. This prestigious international competition challenges teams of up to four students to develop mathematical models to solve real-world problems and submit a formal paper. The contest emphasizes problem-solving, collaboration and clear communication, attracting 1,055 teams from 474 schools across 20 countries and regions this year.
Two teams from Three Village participated in the competition:
Team 15041: Amanda Liang, Sarah Wu and Victoria Ye
Team 15702: Tina Xing and Anna Xing
Both teams delivered remarkable performances, showcasing their exceptional mathematical and analytical skills. Team 15702 earned the Finalist designation, placing them among the top 5% of all competitors. Team 15041 achieved the highest distinction, Outstanding Winner, awarded to only eight teams worldwide, placing them in the top 1% of all participants. Notably, out of these eight Outstanding Winners, only three were from the United States, and two were from New York State: our very own Team 15041 and a team from Stuyvesant High School.
This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to the students’ dedication, critical thinking and teamwork. The Three Village community is incredibly proud of these talented students for their hard work and success on the international stage.
