Local Author Sarah Beth Durst Inspires 4th Grade Students

Event in auditorium thumbnail265971

This week, fourth grade students attended a special event organized by elementary librarians featuring local author Sarah Beth Durst. Durst, an award-winning writer of adult, young adult and children’s fiction, spoke to students about her latest children’s book, “Spy Ring.” The book draws inspiration from the Culper Ring, a real-life spy network based in Setauket during the American Revolution.

During the visit, Durst shared insights into her writing process and discussed how local history played a key role in the development of her story. The event offered students a unique and engaging look into both the world of writing and the history of their own community.

Appreciation goes to the fourth grade teachers, elementary principals, PTAs, and the staff and security at Ward Melville High School for helping to make this experience possible.
