Ward Melville High School senior Corey Fischer was recognized on May 12 at a special ceremony hosted by the Suffolk County Legislature for his outstanding contributions to the community. Legislator Steve Englebright presented Corey with an official Proclamation, naming him the Fifth Legislative District’s Youth Award Recipient.
Corey is the founder of the Jackson Initiative, a community service organization he established in memory of his best friend who passed away from cancer. The initiative is centered on bringing joy to children hospitalized at Stony Brook University Hospital. Through his efforts, Corey secured grant funding for a variety of projects and has successfully mobilized fellow students and community members to join in his mission.
His leadership, compassion and dedication have made a meaningful impact, inspiring a wave of kindness and volunteerism across the community.
