New York State Assemblyman Ed Flood and New York State Senator Anthony Palumbo paid a visit to Minnesauke Elementary School to recognize a student and two staff members for their actions during an emergency situation at the end of last school year.

During lunch in the cafeteria, student Aidan Sterne noticed one of his friends in distress. He quickly alerted lunch monitor Jessica Carioshia who successfully performed the Heimlich Maneuver and cleared the food that the student was choking on. At the time, Aidan was in Mrs. Archer’s class, who had recently taught her students about the Heimlich and what to do in emergency situations.

Assemblyman Flood and State Senator Palumbo presented Aidan, Ms. Carioshia and Mrs. Archer with joint proclamations for their quick-thinking and life-saving efforts.
