Ninth graders in the Three Village Central School District were wished the best as they head to Ward Melville High School this September. P.J. Gelinas and R.C. Murphy junior high schools held moving up ceremonies on June 24 on the front lawns of their respective buildings. Families filled the crowd as they celebrated their students’ achievements in junior high school.

At P.J. Gelinas Junior High School, Assistant Principal William Corrao welcomed the audience, and the chamber choir performed the national anthem. Principal Corinne Keane gave congratulatory remarks before she and Mr. Corrao presented the outgoing students with their moving up certificates. Additionally, ninth graders Matthew Fumai and Michael Galinkin addressed their peers, reflecting on some of their junior high school memories. The ceremony ended with another performance from the chamber choir of “We’ll Never Say Goodbye.”

The crowd at R.C. Murphy Junior High School was welcomed by Principal Vincent Cereola. Ms. Andrea Farley presented the class gift of a bench and acknowledged the four students who helped work on it. Dozens of students were recognized by Assistant Principal Dr. Dawn Nachtigall for receiving the President’s Education Award. The special recognitions continued with the outstanding academic achievement awards, character and memorial awards, TVTA awards and an acknowledgement of the building’s retirees. The ninth grade class was then presented with their moving up certificates before Mr. Cereola gave closing congratulatory remarks.
