At the June 12 meeting, the Board of Education honored several teams and student-athletes for their accomplishments this spring season. Athletic Director Kevin Finnerty noted the successful season with many teams making the playoffs and several winning championships. Most importantly, every single team was recognized as a New York State Scholar Athlete Team earning Ward Melville High School the Scholar Athlete School of Distinction Award for the fifth year in a row.

The following students and teams were honored throughout the meeting:

Suffolk County championship girls badminton team

Suffolk County championship girls lacrosse team

Boys lacrosse players Madden Murphy and Aidan McMinn for All-American honors

Girls varsity golf state qualifier Ella Girard

Boys tennis doubles state champions Harshith and Shashank Pennabadi and all-state player Robert Monticciolo

National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association scholarship winner for Section XI Andrew DeSimone
