The Three Village Central School District came together on Oct. 16 to celebrate Unity Day. Unity Day takes place each October, which marks National Bullying Prevention Month, and encourages communities to work together to create safe environments for students. The initiative promotes kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
Ahead of Unity Day, students at Ward Melville High School participated in a “chalk the walk” activity. They wrote messages of support and kindness on the sidewalks of the building so that their peers would see positivity as they entered school on Oct. 16. Across the district, students of all grade levels were invited to wear orange to celebrate Unity Day and spread a visible message of building a community through acceptance and inclusion. Students also participated in art and in-class activities to engage in the lessons of Unity Day.
