What is the SACC program?
The SACC program is a before- and after-school child care program designed to meet the needs of working families. The program is district-administered, fee-based and self-supporting. The program serves children in grades K-6, operates in each of the five elementary schools, and is housed in the portable classrooms adjacent to the schools. It is open from 7:30 a.m. until the start of the school day and begins at the end of the school day and closes promptly at 6 p.m. The program is recreational and serves over 700 children annually.

How do I register my child for the SACC program?

Registration for SACC for the new school year is held in June. There is an open registration period of approximately five weeks, during which all who register are guaranteed a spot in the program for the fall. Informational flyers announcing the SACC registration dates are sent home to all students and mailed to incoming kindergarten students, and a district newsletter, including registration information, is mailed to every postal box in the district. In addition, SACC registration materials are made available at kindergarten screening at each elementary school. All materials are posted on the “School & Community Partnerships” web page, as is further information regarding SACC registration policy and procedures.

Why is there a waiting list for SACC?

In order to ensure the health and safety of the children at SACC, the program maintains a staff ratio of approximately 10 children for every staff member. Wait lists are generated when the district does not have sufficient staff to maintain that ratio. As staff members are hired, families are called in to begin enrollment in the program.

If I am placed on the wait list, when will I get in?

The district recommends that if you have not registered within the registration period to make alternate child care arrangements, as it cannot predict the timing and availability of hiring new staff. The district will do its best, however, to call families on the wait list as soon as space becomes available.

How is tuition calculated?

The SACC tuition is calculated for the year based upon the child’s attendance schedule and then divided into 10 equal monthly payments. The tuition is based on the number of school days for the year. This is why in a month where there is a school vacation, the tuition remains the same.
