At the May 29 meeting of the Three Village Central School District Board of Education, administrators and trustees recognized the accomplishments of several students. First, the Board honored the Ward Melville students who were awarded the top three prizes in the second annual Long Island Authors Group Essay Challenge – first-place winner Yumi Jin, second-place winner Stefano Tricoli-Bugen and third-place winner Emma Parrella. This was the second consecutive year that Ward Melville students swept the essay contest.

Next, the Board recognized the Nassakeag and Setauket elementary students who qualified to compete in the First In Math Statewide Elementary Mathematics Tournament. Nassakeag fourth graders Talinn Kim, Catherine Hu and Caroline Zhang, as well as Setauket first graders Landon Kim, Paul Syritsyn and Liam Ward, were selected for the championship event.
